It’s not secret I like to juice. Fresh juice (or smoothies) that is. Kids might not eat fresh spinach, but they might just drink it!

Juicing and making smoothies (I use this word with caution- I’m not talking about frozen yogurt sugar-ladden “smoothies”. I am talking about using fresh, real fruits and veggies.

Why not buy them?

#1) They are usually pasteurized

#2) Expensive (use the money you saved to help a child in Africa have clean water)

#3) Fall in love with your kitchen!

What do you need to juice in your own kitchen?

A willing attitude

A juicer or heavy duty blender

Fresh veggies and fruits (frozen is okay, but fresh is best)

Willing attitude. It is amazing how many people will form an opinion before they even try something!! Go into any situation with an open mind. You might just surprise yourself with how life can take on a whole different perspective

Juicer or heavy duty blender. You want something that can puree the kitchen sink. Heavy. Duty. Here are a few good ones (I am in no way affiliated with them). Blendtec, Bosch Omega 4000 Juicer, and the ever popular Vitamix.

Fresh Veggies and fresh fruits. You can use frozen, but fresh is always the best option. Also, avoid canned fruit. Cut up a pineapple!
Here are three recipes for to you try anytime of day!

Green Princess
2 cups spinach
3 large carrots
1 apple
1 small slice of fresh ginger
Depending on your blender, you may need to add a little water. Combine all in blender and grind till juiced. Poor into large glass and enjoy!

Blackberry Power
3 cups spinach
1 peeled orange
1/2 cup blackberries
Depending on your blender, you may need to add a little water. Combine all in blender and grind till juiced. Poor into large glass and enjoy!

Beauty in a Glass
1/2 cup blueberries
5 kale leaves
1 peeled orange
1 cup spinach
2 cooked and peeled beets
1 small slice fresh ginger
1/2 -3/4 cup unsweetened hemp* milk (depending on how thick you like your shake)
Combine all in blender and grind till juiced. Poor into glass and enjoy!
*Can also use unsweetened Almond Milk
