From the www.choosecherries.com site, states this: Cherries contain anthocyanins 1 and 2 that researchers believe can have a significant impact on relieving muscle and joint soreness more quickly. And, cherries’ powerful bundle of antioxidants and carbohydrates offer added nutrition active people need.

Basically, tart cherries have special properties that help aid in muscle recovery & inflammation. This is REALLY great news for not only me, but for you. If you run, workout, have arthritis, gout, even fibromyalgia, cherries are a natural way to help manage pain and recovery.

I first started incorporating cherries into my diet during the summer when I was training for my 100 miler. As a fan of natural methods of managing pain & recovery I was very excited to hear about all the great things cherries have.

On my race day I drank the cherry juice and it really helped me manage the pain my body was going through. I highly recommend putting cherries into you diet.

You can find the cherry juice at a health food store such as Whole Foods, Trader Joes, or Wegmans. Depending on where you live stores may differ. Just keep two things in mind. That is 100% juice. And the label says “Montmorency”.

Drink up! Cheers!

Northern Michigan is pure heaven. If you haven’t visited this area you are missing out on a little piece of heaven. So, I learned something. Always a good thing, right? What I learned is that my body DOES NOT like days off from training! I only had to run 6 miles, but they were hard. My entire body was in pain! Everything hurt. The only comforting thought was that I was able run to the most beautiful rising sun. Ever. Right along the water. And the beach. Complete with boats on the calm water. Perfect.

Ran 6 miles in an hour. Slow for me. Will be glad to run on the trails tomorrow!

Busy day ahead. Looking forward to meeting Ellie Krieger of the Food Network Channel.

OMG! When I arrived at the local airport yesterday, I thought I arrived at a spa. Seriously. Cutest. Airport. Ever.

Today is by far a very different post for me. I took the day off from formal training. I know. Shocker, right? My body sure was!

I had a pretty packed+fun day ahead. I am in Traverse City as a guest of the Cherry Marketing Institute. First thing this morning I attended “science 101″ on tart cherries. Lots of great, life and health changing information I will be sharing with you soon. Don’t miss it.

Then on to the cherry orchards. And I must state this. Today was the most beautiful day. Ever. The sun was out. The clouds were beyond picture perfect. A gentle breeze. And in farm land. I was in heaven!

The cherry farmers were so sweet and nice. They gave us a great tour. Even had cookies and cherry juice waiting for us in the middle of the tour!

Then we went on to Cherry Republic. If you haven’t heard of this place, then you are missing out! They have almost 300 cherry products. Everything from fudge to trail mix to wine (the cherry wine rocked) to BBQ sauce to salsa, they have it.

Cherry Republic doesn’t just have awesome products, but they have created a place that makes you want to stay. The signs will make you laugh and think. It is place you don’t want to leave.

I got to speak with the founder & owner, Bob. His passion for what he does is so evident in the place he has created.

In the evening, it was time to hit the Cherry Festival! And to try more cherry products. I had a cherry pie smoothie and it was as yummy as it sounds.

So, it retrospect, I am not really sure if it was a day off or not. It certainly was not a day from eating!
