365 Days To a Good Guy (weeks 11-13)

I have to confess. I’m a pretty level-headed gal. But right now a piece of my head is in the clouds. And not because I just flew in the clouds!

You see, on my flight to San Francisco this week I had the best seat-mate ever. I fly a lot. And my seat-mates are usually crying babies, women with too much perfume on, men who just got done smoking and cranky teenagers. Well, my luck was about to change.

I primarily fly Southwest Airlines (remember they’re all about the LUV!) and as you know there are no assigned seats. Even more of a reason for fate to work its awesome ways! The plane was pretty much full and the middle seat was (still) empty. Then a guy walked on with a green duffle bag and squished it in the overhead. Then squeezed by the guy (who had eaten too many cheeseburgers and french fries) on the aisle seat and claimed the middle seat. Boarding was now complete.

As soon as he sat down he asked me about airplane mode on his phone. (Was this a pickup line?!) And right away I noticed his gorgeous blue eyes. Regardless, the conversation started. Of course, not knowing if he was single/dating/married I kept the conversation mellow. But has we started talking it was obvious he was single. We talked the ENTIRE two hour, 35 minute and three second flight (OK, I made the second part up). The point is that we talked the whole ride (aside from a bathroom break). To say we hit it off was an understatement.

In our conversation, we both found out we are passionate about life, health, nutrition and helping the world. It was unreal! How wonderful to talk with someone who actually “got it.”  We both love to cook, garden, go to farmer’s markets, travel, live life and that’s only just the start of what we have in common … I wanted to pinch myself. Other juicy details: he has two daughters (12 and 6) and has his own company. He has three older brothers, one of which is a pilot (which is why he was the last person on the flight because of a buddy pass). And was coming to San Francisco for a vacation. His other brother has a condo here.

As we landed he wrote down his number on a scrap of paper (being sentimental I think I’m keeping it) and said not once, but TWICE, “I think we should definitely keep in touch this week.” I guess he had faith that I would call him! We walked off the plane together. I stopped to adjust my backpack and he stopped too. It was cute. He said, “I hope you don’t mind me waiting for you.” Which of course I didn’t :) .

My first impression (besides his blue eyes) that he was caring, compassionate and thoughtful. This would be confirmed less about 14 hours later!

Is it fate that I started this “project” 13 weeks ago? That I’ve experienced a lot of heartache and loss over the years? Is there perhaps a good great guy out there? I’m very optimistic. It might be a week-long story. Or a lifelong story. I don’t know. I do believe that this story is far from over though! And only just beginning.

The Mr. Blue Eyes story to be continued (you don’t want to miss Part Two).

Now if I can only get my head out of the clouds :) .
